Fighting Public Corruption
Ken Hodges has sent corrupt politicians to prison. Hodges served as co-counsel in one of Georgia’s most notorious murder cases, involving former DeKalb County Sheriff Sidney Dorsey. In part due to Hodges' participation in the prosecution, a Superior Court Judge sentenced Dorsey to life in prison on charges of murder and additional years in prison on charges related to political corruption.
Hodges also put away Dougherty County Assistant Police Chief Woody Hart—who was involved in a $2 million blackmail scheme—on charges of bribery, perjury, and violation of his oath of office.
Hodges accused former Dekalb County Sheriff Sidney Dorsey for hiring four people to kill Brown, a reform candidate, to squelch a corruption investigation of Dorsey’s 1997-2000 term. He also accused Dorsey of using county deputies to chauffeur his family, staff his family’s private security company and provide family and friends with legal services. - Albany Herald; June 18, 2002 (for more on Hodges' role in the prosecution of Sidney Dorsey, visit the Ken Hodges article on Wikipedia)
“I’m very disappointed in Chief Hart,” Hodges said. When police officers break the law it tears at the very fabric of the judicial system. – Albany Herald; September 7, 2000
As Attorney General, Ken Hodges will continue to protect Georgians from those in power who seek to abuse it.
