Protecting Our Children
Ken Hodges is a passionate advocate for the protection of Georgia’s most vulnerable citizens—our children. He has a proven record prosecuting dead beat dads and locking up sexual predators.
As District Attorney, Ken Hodges led efforts in child support collection to give non-custodial parents the option to ante up and provide the support their children need. Hodges collected millions in child support for struggling families and had one of the highest collection rates in the state.
While in office, Hodges established one of Georgia’s first sexual assault nurse examiner (S.A.N.E) programs in Georgia to train nurses to perform critical medical evaluations on victims of assault and rape. Because of the emphasis Hodges’ placed on sexual assault crimes, the conviction rate in these cases nearly doubled during his tenure. He later added a dedicated child crimes unit—a team consisting of an attorney, an investigator and a victim advocate focused entirely on protecting children. The conviction rate in child molestation cases increased from below 50% to near 100%.
And, Ken Hodges led efforts to finally putting away a nine time offender and child molester after 30 years of eluding the law.
As Attorney General, Hodges will protect our children and families by aggressively prosecuting parents who abandon their children, enforcing new safeguards through industry-wide agreements regarding internet predators, and proposing legislative reform when the current laws just are not meeting the standards for Georgia’s next generation.
